In an ongoing effort to support Michigan’s food processing industry, LEI submitted two applications for grants for the 2015-2016 USDA Specialty Crop Block Grant (SCBG) program administered in Michigan through the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. Both grant applications were approved and contractual documents were completed in October 2015.
During this grant period, LEI will continue our study to assess water reduction and reuse strategies and assess the feasibility of a revolutionary wastewater disposal method rarely used in Michigan.
Please visit LEI’s SCBG Project Page for more information.
Congratulations to Anlaan Corporation (Anlaan) on moving to their new corporate headquarters in Grand Haven Township, Michigan! LEI partnered with Anlaan to make this move a reality by preparing a Brownfield redevelopment plan that facilitated the capture of local and school taxes for reimbursement of eligible Brownfield costs related to the project. Eligible activity costs covered under the plan included the demolition of an old industrial building, repurposing an existing building, proper removal and disposal of contaminated soil, asbestos abatement, preparation of Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments, and completion of a Baseline Environmental Assessment, Due Care Plan, Brownfield Plan and Act 381 Work Plan. These costs were approved by the Grand Haven Township Brownfield Redevelopment Authority and Michigan Department of Environmental Quality.
